What a difference to last week! Day 2 of the Hamble Winter Series and the Solent was filled with thick fog, no wind and the foghorns of ships sounding their way up Southampton Water. What a surprise, then, to get in a race in, in 5-10 knots of breeze that filled in at 1230, with the AP hoisted just long enough to catch the end of the rugby. Philip McDanell’s Trudi won IRC 4, with Curved Air and Polly finishing tied second. The leeward mark, with 120 boats from all classes, all rounding at once in a strong tide, will stay with us for a while….
Impalas are now dominating class 4, placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall. Next weekend sees 5 Impalas racing in HRSC’s Autumn Championships weekend – it’s not too late to come and join in. www.garminhamblewinterseries.co.uk
